About Us
NoMad Theater is committed to enriching the cultural landscape of the Greater New York area by engaging Mandarin-speaking audiences and all individuals.
Through the medium of Mandarin theatre productions and innovative new works, we strive to foster an inclusive and empowering community, while cultivating creative growth and nurturing the talents of theatre improvisers, writers, and actors.
Our mission is to create transformative experiences that celebrate diversity, inspire artistic expression, and ignite the imagination of cross-cultural audiences and participants alike.

Our Team

Amelia Wang
Yuqing (Amelia) Wang is co-founder of New York NoMad Theatre and NoMad Comedy. She is a director and a stage manager with a B.A. degree in Theatre from University of California, San Diego.
Recent credits include: The President’s Invitation (Production Stage Manager, New York NoMad Theatre), Journey to the West (Director, Columbia Blue Glaze Theatre), 恋爱编程师 (Director, 2022 CSSA Columbia Spring Festival GALA, 孔乙己(Director, UCSD), Sophia’s Gift (Driector, Playwright, 2022 International Asian Culture Society Showcase), Avenue Q (Assistant Stage Manager, OB Playhouse),Much Ado About Nothing (Assistant Stage Manager, Assistant Light Designer, La Jolla Playhouse). Amelia was the President of Columbia Blue Glaze Theatre in Columbia University (21’ - 22’) and Co-Founder & Artistic Director of Fusheng Theatre Troupe in UCSD (18’ - 20’). She also has a B.S. degree in Molecular Biology (UCSD) and an M.A. degree in Biotechnology (Columbia University)

Stephanie Xi
Believing in the transformative power of the theater to deepen our understanding of one another, Stephanie has taken on diverse roles, including producer, performer, stage manager and designer with over ten productions.
A Graduate of Tsinghua University and University of Michigan with a background of pure Science, her interest in theater lies more on exploring the intersection of science, art and technology to create meaningful connections in our fast-paced modern world. She is grateful to have found like-minded individuals as co-founders of NoMad Theater/NoMad Comedy Community.
Some of her prior works include The Last Laugh 2019, Proof 2020, Secret Love for the Peach Blossom Spring 2022, NYU GALA 2023, The President’s Invitation 2024 etc.

Xiqian Chen
Xiqian Chen is a New York-based director, producer, and actor. As an adamant advocator for cross-cultural communication through theatre and Chinese language theater, Xiqian has extensive experience in engaging English-Mandarin audiences.
Recent theatre credits include Don’t Pitch It, Do It (2024), The President’s Invitation (2024), Covenant (2023), Jonah (2023), I Need That (2023), Doubt (2024), Murder Up in the Air (2023), Once Upon a Story (2023), The Beat (2022), Time, Dreams, and Changes Between (2021),
Xiqian also specializes in theater education and community engagement and has collaborated with Tony Awards China, Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. She is the co-founder of Nomad Theater.

Chen Chen is a co-founder of Nomad Theater and a director, producer, and actor based in New York.
With a background in theater from his undergraduate studies, his recent works in the greater New York area include "Murder Up in the Air" (as director),"Sunrise" (as performance director) and "The President's Invitation"(as producer), etc.
Carl Chen

Cherry Qu
Cherry, Design Lead at Nomad Theater, is an accomplished designer with a Master’s degree in Architecture from Columbia University. She specializes in creating visually compelling and strategically crafted design solutions across multiple facets of theater production. Her responsibilities include designing dynamic posters, enhancing spatial experiences to engage audiences, and developing innovative class materials for comedy segments. Additionally, Cherry significantly contributes to the visual and business development aspects of the theater, producing materials that elevate the brand and support business objectives. Her educational background in architecture infuses her designs with a deep understanding of space and structure, making her contributions vital to the success and innovation at Nomad Theater.
